Hailey Refreshes Her Skills

Hailey had just moved her family back to Wisconsin. She was finding it difficult to navigate her once familiar community and realized that needed a little help adjusting and playing catch up with bills. She had utilized services like Childcare Assistance, FoodShare and Badgercare in the past and was sure they could help her and her family get well-established in their new home. There was just one thing: she needed a job and didn’t know where to start.

Hailey visited our office where she enrolled in our Wisconsin Works (W-2) program, a service that helps parents find and keep a family-sustaining job. She sat down with her W-2 case manager to work on her dreams roadmap where she discovered that her dream is to become a social worker. Hailey knew that going back to school to get her social work degree would be her best path to her dream, and her WIOA team would help her get there.

To make sure she was ready for her career journey, Hailey took our Office Professionals Training to learn more about the office work environment. Through this training, she was able to get a refresher on various Microsoft Office programs that would make her a great candidate for any job opportunities involving computers. She also received one-on-one support updating her resume, learning how to handle conflict, and hacking the tips and tricks to landing a great career.

Hailey completed the course with flying colors! She even had a part-time job lined up for her to start after she graduated. She also enjoyed the class so much that she went on to enroll in our Call Center Professionals Training. Once Hailey had her part-time job secured, her W-2 case manager referred her to our WIOA program to help her go back to school for social work.

Today, things are looking great for Hailey. She is flying through her job skills training and is anxiously awaiting to attend social work classes at NWTC. “Hailey is more motivated and is willing to try new activities to increase her skills and education,” says her W-2 case manager. “She continues to think about her future and what steps are needed to reach her goal.”

Congratulations, Hailey! We’re so glad we could take this journey with you and can’t wait to see you achieve your dreams.
